The white period façade of The Linn on Morehampton Road, with window boxes and globe lamps

A comfortable stay in one of Dublin’s best neighbourhoods.

The Linn is a new hotel in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, set across a row of white period houses on Morehampton Road. Step outside and you’re in the village, with cafés, pubs and restaurants on the doorstep, Herbert Park around the corner, and the city centre just a short bus ride away.

Inside, we’ve focused on what matters most for a good stay: a comfortable bed, an en-suite bathroom with both a shower and a bath, and good Wi-Fi. Check-in is easy: if one of us is around when you arrive, we’ll welcome you in person. If not, we’ll send you everything you need to let yourself in. Either way, our small team is always happy to help you make the most of Dublin.

Our rooms.

Our larger beds are 6′ super king. And because this is a period building, every room has its own shape and character: no two are quite the same.

A word about the building. The Linn is made up of six period houses joined together over the years. That gives it plenty of character, and also makes it a bit of a maze. There’s a lift and clear signs to every room, but there are stairs whichever way you go, so the building isn’t suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

The oldest word for this city.

Origin

Dublin takes its English name from the old Irish Dubh Linn: the Black Pool, the dark tidal pool where the River Poddle once met the Liffey, in what are now the grounds of Dublin Castle. Linn is the root of Dublin.

Dubh Linn: the Black Pool, birthplace of Dublin’s name.

Welcome

In Irish, linn means “with us”. You hear it in phrases like caith am linn: spend time with us. For a hotel that puts hospitality at its heart, it’s an open invitation written into a single word.

Linn: with us. Caith am linn: spend time with us.

Old walls, fresh start.

The Linn sits across six interconnecting period houses on Morehampton Road, a building that has welcomed guests for decades. Now it’s starting a new chapter, with a new name, a new team and newly furnished rooms. We’ve kept the period character that makes the building special, and started everything else from scratch.

We chose to open with the essentials done well, rather than wait until everything was perfect. Next on the list: a café and restaurant on site, and more comfortable shared spaces to relax in. We won’t make promises about dates, but we’ll share the news here as soon as each one is ready.

Stay with us in these early days and you’ll watch The Linn grow.
