The most important things to know

  • The Linn is a brand-new hotel. We’ve kept things simple while we find our feet, and parts of the building are still being finished.
  • We don’t serve breakfast yet, and there’s no restaurant or bar on site. Tea and coffee are in your room, and the village has great cafés.
  • Check-in is from 3 PM and check-out is by 10 AM. We don’t offer early check-in or late check-out at the moment.
  • There’s no 24-hour reception. If we’re here when you arrive, we’ll welcome you in person. If not, we’ll send you self check-in instructions on the day. Our team is on hand if you need anything: ring the bell in the lobby or call us.
  • The building is a charming maze of six period houses. There’s a lift, but there are stairs throughout, so The Linn isn’t suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

About The Linn

What kind of hotel is The Linn?

A comfortable, welcoming hotel in the heart of Donnybrook, Dublin 4. Our en-suite rooms are spread across six interconnecting period houses on Morehampton Road, looked after by a small, friendly team. We’re not a full-service hotel: there’s no restaurant, bar or room service. What we do offer is a comfortable room, a warm welcome and one of Dublin’s best neighbourhoods on your doorstep.

You say you’re a work in progress. What does that mean?

We’ve only just opened. The rooms are ready and comfortable, but some parts of the building are still being finished, and some of the services we’d love to offer aren’t here yet. Finishing work may take place in some areas during the day. We’re improving every week, and we’d always rather be upfront with you.

What’s coming next?

We’re planning a café and restaurant on site, along with more comfortable shared spaces. We don’t have dates to share yet, but we’ll post the news on thelinn.ie as soon as each one is ready.

Booking and arrival

How does check-in work?

Check-in is from 3 PM. The Linn is a big old building with a small team, so there’s no 24-hour reception. The day before you arrive, we’ll send you everything you need to find us and get in, and ask roughly what time you’ll arrive. If we’re here when you arrive, we’ll welcome you in person. If not, we’ll send your room number and self check-in instructions on the day, from 3 PM, by email or in your booking app. If you need anything, ring the bell in the lobby or call us on +353 1 965 6000.

Can I arrive late?

Yes. The day before you arrive, we’ll ask roughly what time you’ll get here, so just let us know. If nobody’s around when you arrive, your self check-in instructions will already be in your messages, so you can arrive whenever suits you after 3 PM.

When will I get my room number?

On the day you arrive, from 3 PM, either in person or by message. Rooms can change at the last minute, so we only confirm yours once it’s ready.

Can I check in early or check out late?

Not at the moment. Check-in is from 3 PM and check-out is by 10 AM. We’re planning to offer both soon. If you need extra flexibility, booking an additional night (subject to availability) is the surest way to guarantee it.

How do I check out?

Check-out is by 10 AM, and there’s no need to let us know when you leave. Just leave your key on the desk in the lobby.

Can I leave my luggage?

Rooms are ready from 3 PM, so you can drop your bags and settle straight in. We’re not able to store luggage before check-in or after check-out at the moment.

How do I get to The Linn?

Our address is: 19–29 Morehampton Road, Dublin 4, D04 Y6K4

  • From Dublin Airport by taxi: around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • From Dublin Airport by bus: take the Aircoach 700 (towards Leopardstown) from Terminal 1 (Zone 2) or Terminal 2 (Zone 20). Get off at Morehampton Rd, opp Hampton Hotel, directly across the road from us. It runs day and night, roughly every 30 minutes. Allow 45 to 60 minutes. Timetable and tickets: aircoach.ie/timetables/700
  • From the city centre: 10 to 15 minutes by bus along Leeson Street and Morehampton Road, on routes E1, E2 or 39A. Or a pleasant 30-minute walk from St Stephen’s Green.
  • Heading back to the airport: the Aircoach 700 stops right outside the hotel, with departures through the night for early flights.
  • Nearby: the RDS is around 15 minutes on foot, the Aviva Stadium around 20, and Energia Park is right around the corner.
Is there parking?

Yes, and it’s free for now, which is a rare thing in Dublin 4. Spaces are subject to availability.

The building and your room

Is The Linn accessible?

Unfortunately not. There is a lift, but the hotel is made up of six period houses joined together, with stairs throughout. We’re sorry, but we can’t recommend The Linn to guests with reduced mobility.

Will I find my room?

Yes! The building is a real maze, but there are clear signs to every room. Take your time on your first trip, and if you do get lost, just give us a call.

What’s in the room?

Every room is en-suite, with both a shower and a bath. You’ll also find a kettle with tea and coffee, a hairdryer, a desk and free Wi-Fi. There’s also a Netflix-enabled TV (you’ll need your own account). Please note that rooms don’t have a safe.

Are all rooms the same?

No, and that’s part of the charm. This is a period building, so shapes and sizes vary, even within the same room type. You’re welcome to make a request when you book and we’ll do our best, although we can’t guarantee it.

Is breakfast included?

We don’t serve breakfast yet, but it’s on our list. In the meantime, there’s tea and coffee in your room, and Donnybrook has some great spots just a few minutes’ walk away:

  • Happy Out, 81 Morehampton Road: proper brunch and good coffee, open from early morning.
  • McCloskey’s, 83 Morehampton Road: a proper Irish breakfast, from 8 AM.
  • One Kinda Folk, Upper Leeson Street: excellent coffee and focaccia sandwiches.
Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. You’ll find the network name and password on your welcome note when you arrive.

During your stay

When are rooms cleaned?

Your room is checked and tidied every day, and your linen is changed every three days.

How do I contact you?

Phone is the quickest way to reach us: +353 1 965 6000. You can also email us at hello@thelinn.ie, or reply to any of our messages. During your stay, you can also ring the bell in the lobby.

Can you recommend places nearby?
  • Coffee: Happy Out, a short stroll down Morehampton Road.
  • Pub: Arthur Mayne’s in Donnybrook village. It’s cosy and good for a quiet pint and a bite.
  • Dinner: Marco Pierre White Courtyard Bar & Grill on Belmont Avenue: steaks and classics in a lovely courtyard, a short walk away. Book ahead. For something more casual, try The Little Kitchen, 129 Upper Leeson Street: small, cosy and great value, about 10 minutes on foot.
  • A walk: Herbert Park is right on our doorstep. For something longer, follow the Grand Canal towards town.
